Giant To Open Parkville Store This Week

After nearly two months without a grocery store in Parkville Shopping Center, Giant will open the doors of their newly renovated store this Friday, according to officials with the company.

In a press release Giant officials said that the 41,000 square foot store is "85 percent new" and that elements of the store that weren't replaced were upgraded to meet the company's standards.

The new store will bring 100 new jobs to the Parkville community, the release states.

According to the release, elements of the new Parkville Giant include:

• A full-service floral department
• An enhanced produce department
• A selection of natural and organic food items including Giant’s "Nature’s Promise" products and gluten-free offerings.
• A bakery with fresh baked goods
• Full-service seafood department that will offer complimentary marinating and steaming and feature a live lobster tank.
• A deli with "Order It!" kiosks that will allow customers to digitally place orders.
• An international section offering variety of Hispanic, Italian, and Asian products.
• A community café area at front of store.
• Fourteen check-out lanes, six of which are self-check out.

Friday's public opening will come on the heels of a "red carpet style" premiere and ribbon cutting event Thursday night from 5 until 8 p.m. that will be attended by Giant officials and staff from the store — public officials including the 8th District legislative representatives, Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, and others were also invited to attend.

Back in February, —a grocery store that replaced Superfresh in the location back in July.
