Growing Fuel Costs Still Lower Than Last Year

Gas prices rose an average of 4 cents per gallon over the last week, the second straight week of gains.

 

The average price you'll pay for a gallon of gas is on the upswing in the Baltimore area as it is nationwide.

AAA reports that gas prices are up 4 cents since last week in the Baltimore metro area reaching $3.38. Nationally, prices rose by 4 cents from $3.35 to $3.39.

In the Baltimore metropolitan area, AAA reports the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded rose to $3.38 on Friday, representing a 4-cent increase from a week ago, but a 26-cent decrease over last year.

The 11-week-long decline in the price of gas during the spring was attributed to decreased demand and the falling price of crude. To begin July, AAA reported, supply concerns are beginning to outstrip concerns over demand.
