Klein's ShopRite Planned for Perring Crossing

The store, said to be state of the art, should open on Cleanleigh Drive early in June.

A new grocery store will open in the Parkville/Loch Raven community this spring, according to officials with Forest Hill-based .

Klein's made the announcement of the new store, to be located at 2401 Cleanleigh Drive, in a press release on Wednesday afternoon.

“We are very excited to be opening our brand new state-of-the-art ShopRite in the Parkville/Loch Raven community. We continue to be committed to operating spotlessly clean stores, having the freshest foods and friendly associates who are respectful to everyone,” Marshall Klein, vice president of Operations for Klein’s Family Markets, said in the release.

Construction on the new 55,000-square-foot supermarket is expected to begin this month and a hiring center for the new ShopRite will open in March, the release said. 

"This supermarket will not only fill an important need in the community, but it will add over 200 jobs to the community," Fifth District Councilman David Marks said in an email.

State Sen. Katherine Klausmeier was also excited to hear about the new store.

"I would like to commend Klein's Shop Rite for engaging the community and filling this vacant space," she said in an email.

A community meeting with representatives from Klein's Family Markets, Wakefern Food Corporation and UpLift Solutions is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 27 at a location yet to be determined.

Wakefern is a national retailer-owned conglomerate whose 47 members include Klein's Family Markets, and UpLift Solutions is working with Klein's on community outreach activities.
