Legislators, Community Association Support Sanctions On Parkville Bar

Local legislators and one community group are putting pressure on the Baltimore County Liquor Board to impose sanctions against a Parkville-area bar when the case comes before them early next month.

In a series of letters to the liquor board, the Harford Park Community Association along with County Councilman David Marks; Delegates Joe Boteler, Eric Bromwell and John Cluster; and Sen. Kathy Klausmeier each ask for the board to take appropriate action against Tee-Bee's Place.

The bar, located on Darlington Drive, was the site of two murders between late July and mid-September. In the latter incident, a security guard was stabbed to death after he tried to break up a fight between patrons of the bar, leading to the arrest of a Baltimore City man.

The July murder remains unsolved.

Tee-Bee's Place owners will appear before the Baltimore County Liquor Board at 2 p.m. Oct. 1.

In their letter to the board, members of the Harford Park Community Association express concerns about loud music and traffic, litter entering a nearby stream and the recent murders.

"Our association believes that Tee-Bee's Place has had a negative impact on the quality of life for many residents of Harford Park extending back to at least 2006," the letter says.

"Over the years, the owners of Tee-Bee's Place have negotiated with Baltimore County, the County Police Department and our neighbors with promises of increased security and minimized disruptions," the letter says. "We believe the two murders ... demonstrate this is no longer simply a quality-of-life issue but a present health and safety issue that hs already harmed patrons and employees of the bar and has the potential to endanger the well-being of the community as a whole."
