Prices at the pump are down nationwide, but look especially good here at home.
In the Baltimore metropolitan area, the average price of a gallon of regular unleaded fell to $3.38 on Sunday, representing a 4-cent drop from a week ago and a 31-cent decrease over last year.
The national average for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel was $3.51 a gallon on Sunday, which is down 3 cents from a week ago and 17 cents cheaper than a year ago, according to the latest AAA survey.
According to a AAA news release, the average cost to fill up nationally has dropped 42 cents since prices peaked in early-April and are currently 60 cents below the all-time record high of $4.11 set in July 2008.
Concerns over elections in Greece, an upcoming meeting between global leaders and Iran over their nuclear ambitions and the wide availability of crude oil the market drove the downward trend last week, according to the AAA release.
AAA reports that gas prices could fall even further and could slip to $3.50 a gallon nationally by July 4th and as low as $3 later this summer. At home it looks like we're already ahead of the curve.
