McDonald's Gives Teachers a Free Jolt - But Only on Tuesdays
McDonald's invites local educators and school staff members to have a cup of coffee each Tuesday throughout the school year, on the house.
From now until the end of the school year, Parkville-Overlea area teachers will arrive at school bright-eyed and bushy-tailed at least one day of the week, thanks to local McDonald's restaurants.
The fast food chain has declared Tuesdays through June 24 as "Teacher Tuesdays." On the second day of each school week, educators and school staff members are invited to pop in to their local McDonald's for a free cup of "premium roast" coffee, according to a statement from the chain.
“Our local educators serve as role models for the entire Maryland family and help to make our communities stronger through education,” Christopher Mann, Maryland McDonald’s owner/operator and president of the McDonald’s® Family Restaurants of Greater Baltimore, said in the statement. “As part of McDonald’s commitment to education and the community, we wanted to create a program that expressed our appreciation throughout the entire school year.”
The offer is good for any size cup and the free coffee can be ordered inside the restaurant or at the drive-through window.
The requirements are simple, according to the statement. Customers must identify themselves as a local educator or school staff member when ordering, and they must be able to show their school ID card or other identification that proves the customer is a local school employee.

For more than 30 years, the McDonald’s Family Restaurants of Greater Baltimore organization has worked closely with community schools to support education and scholastic fundraising efforts, according to the statement. Events such as McTeacher Night celebrations also support local schools, PTA organizations, booster clubs, athletic teams and academic clubs through donations of the percentage of sales from the events.
