Ray Lewis, Ravens Memorabilia Selling Fast in White Marsh

Fans may have a hard time finding signed Ray Lewis items this playoff season.

When it comes to sports memorabilia, Great Moments at The Avenue at White Marsh lines their walls and shelves with it.

But don't expect to simply drop in for a something signed by outgoing Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis. As his 17th season draws to a close, all things memorializing the Baltimore legend are flying off the shelves.

After pulling off an unlikely win in their NFL divisional playoff game in Denver, Lewis' farewell tour will make at least one more stop: next Sunday at in Foxborough, MA, meeting the New England Patriots with the AFC championship and a trip to the Super Bowl on the line.

As of last week, the last of the store's signed photo canvases of Lewis—priced at about $300—sold out, according to manager P.J. Tebin. Signed footballs and helmets, which can run as high as $600, also sold out, he said.

But don't worry, Tebin said, signed items from other players and Lewis T-shirts are in stock, not to mention a flurry of purple fan gear, ranging from hair bows to home decor.

How do sales compare to last year's playoff season?

"Dollar to dollar, sales are up compared to the first two weeks of last year," he said. "Anytime we're in the playoffs, sales go up ... when a player leaves, sales spike—that's the way the industry goes," Tebin said.

The store's top-selling items this season have included T-shirts bearing slogans referencing this season's team, including "Hey Diddle Diddle, Ray Rice Up The Middle" and "Ray Lewis' Last Dance."

Tebin said he's optimistic the Ravens will make the Super Bowl, which could mean a major boom for the local memorabilia business.

"There's so much stuff going on around Baltimore, the Ray Lewis retirement, the Denver win. The momentum that we've got with Ray Lewis, and winning the game this past week—everything is in line for something magical, Tebin said.

I get all my gear at Wild Bills on belair road and rossville. The old fisherman's wharf. Great people in that store and always plenty of help to help you find what you want or size.
