Savers To Open In Joppa Heights By Mid-March

The new thrift shop will open in the space left vacant when Giant Food moved out.

A 39,000 square foot vacancy in the Joppa Heights will soon be filled by a new tenant.

Savers, a thrift store, plans to open their new retail space in the shopping center by mid-March, according to a recent news release from the company.

The new shop, located at 1925 E. Joppa Road, will be the chain's eighth Maryland location and bring with it approximately 50 new jobs, the release states.

"Those interested in applying for a position at Savers should visit www.Savers.com for more information. Employment opportunities include back room store merchandise processing positions, sales floor and cashier roles, in both part and full-time," according to the release.

Patch first reported that Savers had leased the property back in June 2012.

Savers, which is a privately held, for-profit company, plans to partner the new Parkville store with the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America.

"Savers pays the organization for every item donated at the Community Donation Center at Savers, as well for all items donated directly to the organization through its home pick-up service," the release states.

The vacancy filled by the new thrift shop has sat empty since Giant Food left the shopping center back in March 2007.
