Shopping on the Street Where You Live: Belair Professional Beltway Center

If you travel the same route to and from work each day, you may be overlooking some great businesses.

How many times do we end up in a shopping center parking lot by accident, just turning the car around, only to spot a store you never noticed before? Even though I’ve lived in this area most of my life, I always feel like a tourist when I end up in a strip mall parking lot. I’m always discovering something new.

Businesses change hands; old ones leave, new ones crop up. I interviewed  manager David Oaken a few months ago. I’d been in that shopping center many times, but sure enough, there were new shops…and shops I had never noticed before.

Today, I’m looking at the Belair Professional Beltway Center. The shopping center's anchor is Overlea Personal Physicians Center, which features a medical facility in the round. Various doctors share the same facility, and there’s a blood lab and diagnostics facilities on site. So, you can go to a primary care physician who will refer you to someone he knows personally. The care is coordinated.

At the exit of the shopping center, located directly on Belair Road, is . Specialties change with the season, so even if you’ve been there, you haven’t seen everything. Check the website for a menu.

For people with limited lunch hours, being able to run a few errands and eat lunch is a bonus. Here’s a smattering of what you’ll find at Belair Professional Beltway Center.

Food

Each month they discount a foot-long sub for $5. In March, a meatball and pepperoni sub was featured.

Delivery is free for orders over $10.

Daily deals for carry out or dine in include a lunch special for under $5.

,  if you have a hankering for seafood. Take a look at the menu beforehand.

Baltimoreans depend more on a Rita’s opening than they do on the groundhog to let them know that spring is on the way.

For 25+ years the company has offered corporate gifts full of goodies. Pick up something for dessert or fill up on items for Easter… and save some to put in the Easter baskets.

Services

If you order lunch you can drop off materials or touch base with any number of service providers: taxes (H&R Block), legal (Law Offices of Harvey S. Levin), realty (Riley & Assoc.), loans and debt counseling (Lendmark) , insurance (Allstate)  and banking (M&T).

Beyond professional services, you’ll find , a dry cleaner that offers weekly specials, as well as clothing repairs. If you’d rather spend your time relaxing instead of running errands, get a manicure or pedicure at .

In addition to Overlea Personal Physicians, there are at least a dozen medical services ranging from eye care (United Optical) to chiropractic to physical therapy to services dedicated to women’s health. And if your pet gets sick, the Animal Medical Center is nestled among the eateries at the far end of the shopping center.

A recent addition to the shopping center is Anchor Staffing (410-663-8933), open 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m. for those looking for a job ranging from warehouse to administrative work.
