Treat Your Mama to a Mani (or a Pedi) at Parkville’s Newest Nail Studio

Mia Sorella Nail Studio on Harford Road will open for business this Saturday, just in time for Mother's Day, offering clients manicures and pedicures in a clean, friendly environment, according to owner Pam Sanzone.

The Parkville area’s newest nail studio is opening its doors this weekend. Mia Sorella, located at 9849 Harford Road in Carney, will open for business this Saturday morning at 9 a.m., according to owner Pam Sanzone, with an official grand opening to be scheduled sometime in June.

To start, the studio hours will be Tuesday-Friday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday 1-3 p.m. Services include “decadent pedicures, truly fantastic manicures, and gorgeous acrylic nail enhancements,” Sanzone said. The studio also offers Shellac manicures, using a new nail color product that promises not to nick, chip or smudge for two weeks. Costs for services at Mia Sorella start at $17 for a basic manicure.

“Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are definitely appreciated,” Sanzone said.

She added, “My goal is to provide expert nail care, to provide exceptional customer service and to make people feel very comfortable in a warm, cozy and comfortable setting.” She says she looks forward to serving women, men and children of all ages.

Sanzone herself will be providing all the nail services, and she hopes to hire a second nail technician soon. Her mother, Linda Sanzone, will be taking appointments and greeting customers at the studio’s front desk.

“I’ve been doing nails for 14 years on a part-time basis and finally decided to go out on my own full time, at the urging of both my clients and my family,” said Sanzone, who is a senior-level graphic designer but was laid off in July 2009.

The studio is named in honor of Stephanie Sanzone, Pam’s younger sister, who passed away suddenly at the age of 30 in July 2009. “She was my very best friend,” she said, “[and] the name ‘mia sorella’ is translated from Italian, meaning ‘my sister.’” She added that the studio’s logo design incorporates the Pisces symbol in place of the two l’s, since she and Stephanie shared that zodiac sign.

As Sanzone prepares to open Mia Sorella for business, the word already seems to be spreading fast. “I am so booked right now I’m going to have to stay late a few days, which is great,” she said, and the Mia Sorella Facebook page already has more than 125 “likes.”
