VIDEO: Fear the Hurricane Irene (Sundae)

Local vendor at the Maryland State Fair concocts unusual treat 'to honor' impending storm and our food reviewer is brave enough to try it.

What do frozen yogurt, French fries, kettle corn, peaches, blueberries and jalapenos—yes jalapenos—have in common?

They are the key ingredients to Stan Dabkowski's creation, the Hurricane Irene Sundae—available through the weekend only at the 

Dabkowski, owner of Spring Meadow Farms in Baltimore County , said he was driving to the fair today where he has a sweets stand under at the food court pavilion, when inspiration struck. 

He said he is trying to put a positive spin on what may be a disastrous weekend. At $8 a serving, the mound of sweet and salty (and spicy) goodness might be ounce-for-ounce the best value food purchase at the fair.

Jalapeno ice cream is good. I don't know all about the rest of the stuff. I usually use Scotch Bonnets. I melt a gallon of vanilla throw in a couple sliced up peppers and refreeze it.
