Kid-Friendly Smoothie Treats

Cool down this summer with a healthy, tasty drink.

There are so many things to like about smoothies! They are delicious, most are good for you, they cool you down and kids love them. Smoothies are a good source of fiber and a way to get fruits and vegetables in your body. There are many variations of smoothies to enjoy, but here are a few that are tasty and sweet.

Peachy Smoothie

  • 1 cup sliced peaches
  • 4 cubes ice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons wheat germ
  • 1 tablespoon rolled oats
  • 1 cup vanilla soy milk

In a blender, combine the peaches, ice, nutmeg, vanilla extract, honey, wheat germ, oats and soy milk. Cover and combine until smooth and pour in glasses.

This smoothie is a sneaky way to add spinach to your diet without tasting it.

Blackberry-Melon Smoothie

  • 1 cup blackberries
  • 1 cup watermelon
  • 1 banana, peeled
  • 2-4 cups spinach
  • 2-4 ounces filtered water

Add all of ingredients into a blender. Combine until smooth and serve. It will be our little secret that there is a leafy green vegetable in there!

The next smoothie is called Bodyfuel and it is my favorite. Plus, it is simple to create.

Bodyfuel Smoothie

  • 4 oz. filtered water
  • 8 oz. natural pineapple juice
  • ½ banana
  • 1 cup fat-free vanilla frozen yogurt
  • 1 tbsp. honey
  • 1 cup ice

Combine all the ingredients in a blender until smooth.

It's a family favorite in my house. It cools you down and recharges you for more summer fun!
