Winter Weather On The Way

Expect 2-5 inches of snow overnight and into Tuesday morning.

UPDATE (3:31 p.m.) — Just when you thought the groundhog might have been right and spring was on the way, we've been thrown a curveball.  The National Weather Service has upgraded an earlier winter weather advisory to a winter storm warning for Baltimore County.

The advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. on Monday until 7 a.m. on Tuesday, and officials are saying that 4-8 inches of snow and sleet could accumulate in time for the Tuesday morning rush hour. Higher snowfall accumulation will likely occur in the northern parts of the county.

Precipitation is expected to begin as rain, as temperatures climb to a high of 41 degrees. According to the National Weather Service, temperatures will dip into the 30s by Monday evening, and drop into the mid-20s by Tuesday morning.

Late in the evening we will start to see a wintry mix of snow and sleet that will change over to all snow after midnight and continue through the morning.  Winds will be steady between 10-15 mph, with gusts reaching up to 20 mph in some areas.

A winter weather advisory indicates there will be periods of limited visibility and slippery roads as snow, sleet and possibly freezing rain affect the area.
