Our Destiny

It has been said that one can accomplish important things if they have the courage to just try doing it. When I was a teenager, dad looked at me one day when I was thinking I was not pretty enough. He said from his heart (and of course because he was biased being my dad) “You are so gorgeous, look at your high cheekbones. When you are a few years older, you will appreciate your own beauty.” Of course I knew that was my dad talking and sure he was a bit prejudiced since I was his child, but I knew in my heart he meant it. It lifted an insecure teenager from having a lack of confidence into a blooming teen on the verge of womanhood with hopes of looks that would be defined as lovely.

Shakespeare said “Those who have self-control truly own their beauty.” Macys said in a confirmation via email of my winter coat purchase “There’s magic coming your way.” Also it is said  “the only difference between a dream and a goal is a plan.”

We can live by these words. We need self-control in spending what we earn and how we disburse it and if we save some of it, if possible. We need self-control in what we like to eat. We need self-control on how we go about living our daily life. Appreciate what you are and can be.

Try to believe that some magic will come your way. Make your dream become a reality with a plan for your future.

We all have dreams regardless of our age. We should by now have self-control in our finances, our food consumption and our pleasure events.

The health care act will help to raise our health care premiums as we are told it will lower them. In other countries, they can wait three months to get a necessary medical test. It may be too late then. My late brother waited ten days to get a necessary test prescribed for him by a cardiologist that he was going to. The radiology place where he scheduled it gave him a time of ten days. He was an intelligent man and why he waited, I will never understand. If he had told me that, I would have gotten him an appointment earlier because I would have aggressively battled my way to get it somewhere in the next day or so for him. Even if he had to go thirty miles to a testing place, he needed to get it immediately.  A few days before the test was to be taken, he passed on.

We know someone who was in London about twenty years ago, took ill and even though her husband had cash to pay for a test, they could not take her USA health insurance or give her the test that could have saved her life. She came back to this country and whatever her problem was; it needed to be taken care of at once. The irony of it, she did not want to travel and the family encouraged her to finally see the world. She passed on a few days after arriving back home in this country.

I hope that on January 2014, we have no health need problems come our way and that we continue on with the speedy way we now can get tested and to see our doctors. As Shakespeare said we need self-control in our lives, we need no government control over our healthcare especially as seniors. We are alert enough to care for our health, we need no politicians who receive the Rolls Royce healthcare because they are politicians, dictate to us what we need.

As Shakespeare said we truly own our beauty and I add to it- our destiny.

We have worked hard our whole lives and now at retirement we deserve the best availability to care for our bodies. We are the persons responsible for our individual health and to live as long as we want and the way we hope to accomplish it.

Have your dreams and your goal for the magic to come to you. It is our destiny.
