Police Captain to Adddress Residents Concerns at GPCC

Kick off the new year by learning more about what's
going on in our community.
The
Greater Parkville Community Council (GPCC) invites you to its first general
meeting of the new year.

Meeting
Speakers Include:

Captain Gordon Skinner, Parkville's 8th Police
Precinct
, will present what types of crimes that are occurring in our
community, what is being done to address
these crimes
, and ways to prevent crime in your neighborhood. In addition,
the GPCC invites the Police Captain annually to its' meeting so that residents
have an opportunity to personally discuss crime related concerns with the
Captain and Community Relations Officers. At past GPCC meetings discussions
included:
- traffic management on residential streets
- robberies, home burglaries
and car thief
- preventing graffiti and get it cleaned up
- increase police

presence along the Harford Road Business District, local neighborhoods, and at

the Baltimore County/City line
- police resources for schools and local
neighborhoods.

Christina Minkler, Project Manager, State Highways Administration, will

present the proposed I-695 Beltway Ramp Reconfiguration Project and the

replacement of the Beltway Bridge at Old Harford Road.

The first project
involves changing the off ramp

configuration from the inter-loop of the Beltway onto Harford Road
(see

attached map). The existing ramp southbound onto Harford Road (from Towson)
will be extended and widened from one lane to three lanes, and a traffic signal
will be installed at the top of the ramp on Harford Road. Southbound traffic
will exist as they do now, and northbound traffic going towards Carney will
make a left turn at the new traffic light on Harford Road. The existing off ramp
onto Harford Road will be removed.

The bridge at Old Harford Road has
been in disrepair for years and needs to replaced
if beltway improvements are to be made. It is expected that both projects will
be combined with the design of these projects completed in the spring of 2014
and construction work to begin in the fall of 2014. More details about these
projects will be given at the meeting.

Meetings are open to the public. Looking

forward to seeing you at the meeting and in our community in 2014.

PLEASE
NOTE:
GPCC meetings will be cancelled if public

schools are closed or dismiss early due to weather conditions.
