Rain Barrel Workshop

Gunpowder Valley Conservancy will be conducting Free
Workshop!

You will help build a rain barrel at this workshop – it is
fun and easy, and best of all, if you have purchased a rain barrel, you will be
able to take it home with you!

This workshop is meant for individuals interested in “seeing
their feets in our creeks”
again! Rain barrels help reduce storm water runoff
that may carry pollutants to our creaks and the bay; and they help conserve
water.

The water you save can be used for garden and lawn watering,
washing your boat, car or tools; or it can simply be released more gradually
into the ground through your lawn or garden where it can recharge our
groundwater supplies.

Disconnecting your downspouts in order to re-direct runoff
towards as garden or lawn will be discussed as well.

Save water, save money and save our creeks and Bay all at
the same time!

Rain Barrels are a way to implement Baltimore County’s Small
Watershed Action Plan (SWAP). Its goal is to reduce nutrient, sediment and
pollution run-off that enter our local waters and ultimately the Chesapeake
Bay.
