Parkville Family Makes Public Appeal to Help Pay for Dog's Cancer Treatment

The O'Donnell family hopes to raise $6,000 to help Munchkin fight kidney cancer.

Munchkin is a 7-year-old Chihuahua who captures the hearts of people who swear they don't like little dogs, according to Kelly O'Donnell.

Last month, the lovable dog was diagnosed with kidney cancer. The cost of needed chemotherapy will be about $1,000 a month for at least six months, according to O'Donnell.

She turned to crowdsourcing in an effort to keep the family pet alive, and started a GoFundMe account for the pup.

In  just over a week, pet lovers have responded with donations totaling $1,524, just about 25 percent of O'Donnell's goal of $6,000.

O'Donnell posts regular updates to let friends and donors know how the little guy is doing.
