Spend Halloween in Baltimore’s Catacombs

The University of Maryland hosts its annual Halloween Tour on Oct. 31.

The University of Maryland is giving you the chance to spend Halloween in Baltimore’s only catacombs.

The Francis King Carey School of Law hosts it’s annual Halloween Tour of Historic Westminster Hall and Burying Grounds, the final resting place of Edgar Allan Poe and General James McHenry, on Oct. 31, according to a news release.

In addition to touring Westminster Hall, which opened in 1852, there will be presentation of Poe’s “Masque of Red Death” and a reading of his “Tell Tale Heart.” Actors portraying Generals Samuel Smith and John Sticker will also talk about their roles in the War of 1812.

Free cider and popcorn will be served, and admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children under 12 and University of Maryland, Baltimore students receive a $1 discount with student ID, according to the news release.

Westminster Hall is located at the corner of Fayette and Greene streets in Baltimore.
