Complete the Cycle in Baltimore County—Recycle Your Live Christmas Tree

Baltimore County will pick up live trees for recycling for two weeks beginning Jan. 13.

You can complete the life cycle of your natural Christmas tree by recycling it after you take it down.

Baltimore County will collect live trees for two weeks beginning Jan. 13, according to a statement from county officials. To ensure free pickup, all trees must be placed at the curb no later than Jan. 18.

Trees must be stripped of lights, all decorations (including tinsel) and stands. Do not place them in a bag.

Trees will be collected only from front curbs and streets; they will not be collected from alleys.

The trees will be chipped and used as mulch, according to the statement.

Beginning Dec. 26, county residents may also take their trees to any one of the county's three trash and recycling drop-off facilities:

  • Eastern  Sanitary Landfill, 6259 Days Cove Road, 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday
  • Central Acceptance Facility, 201 W. Warren Road, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday
  • Western Acceptance facility, 3310 Transway Road, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday
For directions to the County's three drop-off centers, residents may visit www.baltimorecountymd.gov/solidwaste or call the Bureau of Solid Waste Management at 410-887-2000.
