PHOTOS: White Marsh Mall Steel Arches Removal

If you have been to the mall in the last week you have likely noticed many exciting changes occurring.

If you have been to the mall in the last week, you have likely noticed many exciting changes occurring.

Most notably, our entrance facelift has begun with the removal of the outdated steel arches. The arches at two of the three entrances have been removed; the Food Court arches will be the last to go. As you can imagine, removing these gigantic arches is no easy feat. They each weigh approximately 17 tons, which is equivalent to five elephants! We want to give you the insider’s view of the removal process, so check out the attached photos and stay tuned for a video in the next few days. It is hard to believe that all this work is being done at night while we are fast asleep.

Painting in the Food Court is still moving full-steam ahead and the results are looking great. The painting is expected to be complete by next Friday.

The entire White Marsh Mall refresh project will be complete by the end of August, just in time for the busy back-to-school shopping season. We are in the process of planning a great celebration once the refresh is complete- so stay tuned for details!

We’ll be sharing another update tomorrow highlighting the results of our partnership with Soles4Souls, a wonderful non-profit helping those in need.

Scenario: a restaurant has a rodent problem. Everyone knows about the rodent problem. Said restaurant decides to totally remodel the physical plant, all new interior, landscaping, equipment, lighting, etc. but does nothing to address the rodent problem. Will this restaurant prosper just because it looks better? Better do something about the (b)rats running loose inside the mall.

A total waste of time and money...although it looks like very little of either were spent. It appears to be a last ditch effort to spruce up a failing mall. When I heard a renovation was due, I guess I expected more. I would bet that White Marsh Mall will turn into just one huge flea market within the next couple of years. It certainly isn't going to attract any quality stores.

The mall is on its last leg, as well as the entire area. No "quality" stores are coming.

There are plenty of decent places in White Marsh mall... R&R Taqueria, Disney Store, Gap, Express, GameStop, Wockenfuss... In addition, the anchor stores are the same as anywhere else. Teens have always hung out at the mall - not really sure how this is a problem, as they purchase things and don't really interact with the other shoppers. I applaud any renovations, and am pretty excited that the mall is getting a facelift. It's a shame that the people who live around me almost always have negative things to say about their community.

ha, too bad it has been bringing in quality stores, resteraunts, etc and continues to do so. Here's a friendly suggestion you are welcome to ignore: Don't gamble, sounds like you'd be terrible at it.
