Fido’s on Channel 2

A furniture painter discovers a new, fun, pet-friendly way to re-purpose an older piece of furniture.

One of the fun parts about repurposing old furniture is stealing a great idea off the internet.

I never would have thought of taking an old console television set and turning it into a dog bed. I can thank someone else’s blog about crafting and “upcycling” unused household items. I can thank several blogs, in fact. Some people have brilliant ideas.

Click here to see my inspiration. Darling ideas, aren’t they? The dog bed I created from the old console television ended up being wild and colorful, with some yellow spatter-painted drops of sunshine sprinkled among the brightly painted wildflowers. Of course, the dog that sleeps inside will appreciate none of this.

The console itself was a Craigslist freebie. My husband and I trekked to Aberdeen to pick it up from someone’s porch. Secretly, I was glad it was a pick-up transaction rather than a face-to-face transaction, because I knew the owner was happy that someone would be using her old television. I don’t think she ever dreamed that I would be destroying it first. Over emails, she seemed rather proud of how well it still worked.

I can safely say now that it no longer works.

I hope she doesn’t read this blog.

Apparently my last comment was flagged. I'll clean it up: Surprise, Surprise, the offer is onlyRead More good for NEW customers. Yet I've been a "loyal" Comcast customer for over 15 years now, never late on a payment nor complained when my service failed or I've had an issue that wasn't resolved without me taking "above and beyond" steps. Comcast is a juggernaut that just doesn't care if once it gets your business. You get locked in and then are stuck until your "contract" expires. Mine expires 2/22/2014 or I could cancel and pay $200. I'm going to hold out and then cut cable all together and just have Internet service so my Rokus work. But Verizon FIOS is looking better by the day.
