Health & Fitness

What is Fit?

Focus less on your size and your weight and more on staying active. Just think of fitness as a life long journey that must be done and continue to find ways to make it new and interesting for you.

Fit is defined as the following:

  • : be agreeable or acceptable to; "This suits my needs"
  • be the right size or shape; fit correctly or as desired; "This piece won't fit into the puzzle"

According to the definition of fit, fit is something that is acceptable for you.

Being fit varies from person to person. Being fit to one person may mean running a 5k, where as being fit to another might mean performing 25 push-ups or 15 pull ups.

There is no set standard for being fit. What is being Fit to you? I encourage you to focus on being a more fit you. This will allow you to compare yourself to yourself and not to others.

Sometimes people seem to feel that the smaller you are the more fit you are. This isn’t true — you can be fit at a number of different sizes. Being fit has no definite size limitation. Some people are more fit in certain areas than others.

For example, most football athletes are better fit to run very fast in short intervals, whereas, a marathon runner can run for hours. So, as you can see, both are fit but in their own disciplines.

Focus less on your size and your weight and more on staying active. Just think of fitness as a life long journey that must be done and continue to find ways to make it new and interesting for you. If you continue to stay active, you will be a more fit and healthier you. But if you stop after a month or two, you will never improve.  Being fit doesn’t have to be hard and boring, find ways to make it fun and interesting.

A few ways to make being Fit a little more fun:

  • Try new activities
  • Exercise with Friends
  • When weather is nice, get outside and enjoy nature
  • Find a sport that you enjoy ( I recently started play squash)
  • Add variety to the mix
