Current Day Value must be paid to State for Lavender Lot in Parkville-Thanks District 8 Legislators!

What a "swell deal" the Baltimore County Revenue Authority thought it had-a 1958 price for the Lavender Lot in Parkville!

The Carney Improvement Association supports the neighboring Parkville Community's longtime fight to retain Lavender Lot parking for the Parkville Business district.  The Baltimore County Revenue Authority wants to sell the land to a developer to put up an Walgreen Pharmacy.

I am so pleased that the State, via our District 8 legislators efforts, was not "stupid" enough to sell the property to the Baltimore County Revenue Authority for the $14,000 (a 1958 valuation) when the current market value is greater than $100,000.

The trouble with the Baltimore County Revenue Authority's new promise (never mentioned until now) to put $100,000 back into the Parkville community is that no one believes them.   There is a big lack of community trust when it comes to the Baltimore County Revenue Authority.

It seems to me that the Baltimore County Revenue Authority is to Baltimore County Agencies as the PUD process is to Development Regulations.  Both offer methods to circumvent property protections for citizens.

We should not be surprised.  Just look at the latest appointment to the Baltimore County Revenue Authority. The Baltimore County Council just appointed Gordon Harden to fill the county council seat vacancy on the Baltimore County Revenue Authority.  You may remember that Gordon Harden, with 31 separate liens filed against him, had unpaid state and federal income taxes that were due from 1997 to 2005, according to court records. In some cases, Harden took nearly 10 years to pay his taxes.  It is nice to have political connections!
