Love, Loyalty and Lots of Kisses: To Know Zoey is to Love Zoey

Adopting a homeless dog is the most rewarding experience I've ever had. I hope that by reading about Zoey, you will be inspired to foster or adopt a dog in need of a home.

Everyone who knows Zoey loves Zoey and can't understand how her previous owners could have left her at the shelter because they didn't have time for her.

The lack of loyalty of many humans to the dogs who are so loyal and loving to them is puzzling to those of us who take care of these animals who have been heartlessly thrown away.

I could go on forever about the disloyal human aspect of why there are so many homeless animals, but that would take the focus off of what's important...showing the world how amazing and loving and funny these dogs are and spreading the word about how rewarding it is to foster or adopt a homeless dog and save the life of your best friend.

Zoey is a 1-year-old blue/brindle pit bull type dog. She has won the heart of the staff and volunteers at BARCS where she has been cared for since the day her family abaondoned her.

Zoey is a beautiful girl with soulful eyes. She is young, but has nearly perfect manners already. Zoey participates in play group at the shelter, where she socializes with other dogs. Zoey also walks nicely on the leash, takes treats gently, and greets people and dogs appropriately.

Because of all of these wonderful traits, Zoey was professionally evaluated by a behaviorist/trainer for BARCS' Pit Bull Ambassador program and she passed with flying colors!

Zoey would thrive in a home where she receives love and some continued training. Those who know her have no doubt that for the lucky family who adopts her, the rewards for making her part of their family will be endless.

Zoey is definitely a Canine Good Citizen in the making... all she needs is a committed family to get her there! Zoey's previous family didn't recognize her potential when they left her at a shelter knowing that she could be euthanized at any time, but the staff and volunteers of BARCS know a great dog when they see one.

If you are interested in fostering or adopting Zoey, not only would you be saving her life, but you would be saving the life of another dog who will get a chance at adoption by taking Zoey's spot at the shelter.
