Car Hits House, Opens Front Door

A two-car accident at Walther Boulevard and East Joppa Road Thursday morning resulted in minor damage to a nearby home, but no one was injured.

When you hear a knock at the front door, it usually means someone wants to come in. But if you were the homeowner of one house in the 3500 block of E. Joppa Road Thursday morning, it meant there was a white Toyota 4Runner on your doorstep.

At about 10:20 a.m. Thursday, police received a call for a multi-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Joppa Road and Walther Boulevard in Carney.

According to police spokeswoman Louise Rogers-Feher, a blue Chevrolet Malibu was making a left hand turn from Walther Boulevard onto East Joppa Road through a green light when it was struck by a white Toyota 4Runner headed eastbound on Joppa Road.

Rogers-Feher said that after the initial collision, the 4Runner headed to the southeast corner of the intersection where it struck the front door of a house and opened it.

"The car didn't go through the house, it just opened the front door," Rogers-Feher said.

Shortly after the crash. the Baltimore County Fire Department called in a building inspector, who determined there was no structural damage to the home as a result of the accident, Rogers-Feher said.

According to police, no one was injured in the crash and the cause is still being investigated.

"Charges are pending," Rogers-Feher said.
