Crime: Carjacking on Linden Avenue

Assault at Elmwood Tavern and two burglaries round up this week's crime wrap-up

At 6:59 a.m. on Mar. 11 — A blue 2002 Volkswagen Jetta with Maryland license plates 5MD3368 was stolen in the 7400 block of Linden Avenue. 

According to a police report, Keaun Lomonte Carter approached the vehicle while it was stopped, opened the driver side door and punched the driver in the face before removing her from the vehicle.

A passenger in the vehicle got out the passenger side door and fled the scene.

Carter was able to escape in the stolen vehicle but an accomplice who was acting as a lookout, Jordan Lawrence Waters, was arrested on the scene.

Carter later turned himself in at the White Marsh Precinct Police Station and was arrested and charged with carjacking.

Between Feb. 25 and Mar. 11 at 11:45 a.m. — Two copper bars, worth approximately $500 each, were stolen from a cell phone utility yard in the 7800 block of Rossville Blvd. A fence surrounding the property was cut in order to gain access.

On Mar. 12 at 1:50 a.m. — A man was assaulted at Elmwood Tavern, 4423 Kenwood Avenue. The victim was distracted when he was attacked from behind, hit and kicked on the ground. 

According to the police report, the crime was initially investigated as a second degree assault but was upgraded to a first degree after the severity of the victim's injuries — including three facial fractures and a possible brain lesion — became more apparent.

The crime is still under investigation.

Between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. on Mar. 14 — A television, two laptop computers, an iPod, video game systems and a cell phone were stolen from a home in the 6100 block of Radecke Avenue.
