Crime: Homeless Man Arrested After Allegedly Burglarizing Same House Twice

Rossville

Ridge Road, 6100 block, 9:02 a.m., Aug. 2. A homeless man was arrested after he allegedly tried to break into a home. Police found 62-year-old Richard Elias Collier, of no fixed address, on the back porch of the home, near a door with shattered glass.

An investigation linked Collier to an earlier burglary at the same address on July 26 in which two laptop computers, three iPods, an iPod dock, two watches, miscellaneous jewelry and a camera valued at a total of $7,900 were stolen.

Collier was arrested and charged with attempted first-degree burglary, two counts of first-degree burglary and two counts of malicious destruction of property.

Collier is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

Police believe Collier may be responsible for other burglaries in the area, according to county police spokeswoman Det. Cathy Batton, and encourage anyone with information to contact police at 410-307-2020. 

Overlea

Belair Road, 7100 block. A lawnmower and two pressure washers were stolen from Chips Transmission Service. A burglar entered through a damaged gate, according to a witness. Police are investigating the burglary.

Fullerton

Rossville Boulevard, 7900 block, between 1 p.m., July 30 and 11:10 a.m., Aug. 1. A beaded necklace and several Hess-brand toy trucks, a total value of $2,750, were stolen from a storage locker after entry was gained by cutting off the lock.

Cedonia

Whitby Road, 5600 block,  6 p.m., July 26. A girls bike was stolen from the backyard of a home.

Barstow Road, 6000 block, between 12 p.m., July 29 and 12 noon, July 30. Someone tried to pry open the door to a residence but failed to gain access, causing $200 in damage to the door and doorframe.
