Crime: Homeless Man Living In Vacant Home

Two residential burglaries, and a man arrested for attempted murder

On Feb. 21 at 10:37 a.m. — A homeless man who had been living in a vacant home in the unit block of Chesley Avenue was bitten by a dog. He was transported to a local hospital and released without being charged. 

Police are completing a warrant for the arrest of the homeless man, Robert Earl Hoffman, 59. 

Between Feb. 1 at 12 p.m. and Feb. 21 at 5:30 p.m. — A television, still in the box, was stolen from a home under repair in the 2600 block of East Joppa Road.  The thief broke a basement window to gain access to the house.

Between Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. and Feb. 16 at 1:30 p.m. — A ratchet set, chainsaw and reciprocating saw were stolen from the garage of a home in the 7800 block of Tilmont Ave. 

The thief broke the lock on the garage before stealing the above listed items.

On Feb. 15 at 1:45 p.m. — A man attacked another man with a knife in the unit block of Arwell Road.  According to a police report, Deangelo Devon Johnson, 22, approached the victim and slashed at his throat with a knife before attempting to stab the victim in the throat. He was ordered to desist by a police officer and fled the scene. 

Johnson was later arrested and charged with attempted second degree murder.
