Crime: Man Arrested for Shed Burglary Charges

Belair Road, 7500 block. At 10:42 p.m. Oct. 11. Richard James Martin, 47, of the unit block of Delight Avenue was arrested and charged with second-degree burglary. According to police reports, Martin climbed over a fence into the back yard of a home, then attempted to use a hammer to remove the lock from a shed door.

Rossville Boulevard, 7900 block. At 4:13 a.m. Oct. 10. Two men broke into the restaurant by forcing open a rear door; once inside, they broke into an office and attempted to break into a safe but were unsuccessful.

Sipple Avenue, unit block. Between 6:30 a.m. and 5:20 p.m. Sept. 29. A camera, several DVD’s and a safe, valued at a total of $500, were stolen from a home. The burglar appeared to have entered through the front door without using force.

Sipple Avenue, unit block. Between 5 p.m. Sept. 26 and 6:30 p.m. Sept. 30. A residence was broken into when a burglar cut a screen to enter through an open window, then removed screws holding a piece of plywood over a glass door and broke the glass to get inside. Nothing was taken.
