Crime: Man Tries to Rob Snowball Stand at Gunpoint

Your weekly wrap-up of crime in the Parkville-Carney area, compiled from police reports at Parkville's Precinct 8.

East Joppa Road, 3300 block. At 8:47 p.m. May 13. A man tried to rob the Friendly Snowball stand at gunpoint but was unsuccessful.

A female employee heard a knocking at the rear door of the snowball stand. She opened the door and found a man pointing a black handgun at her. The man demanded cash and a cell phone from the woman, who did not comply. The gunman fled the scene.

Matthew Thomas Davidson, 19, of Nottingham was later arrested on a charge of attempted armed robbery in connection with the incident.

Summit Avenue, 2700 block. Between 7 p.m. May 13 and 12 p.m. May 16. Someone tried to break into Pine Grove Elementary School. The burglars unscrewed a lock faceplate on a rear door in an apparent attempt to gain entry, but they were not successful.
