Juvenile Arrested for Allegedly Using Stolen Credit Card

Police have arrested a Parkville boy and cleared at least eight cases of theft from autos as a result.

According to Baltimore County police Detective Shannon Broccolina, the arrest of a boy from Parkville allowed police to clear at least eight cases of theft from auto.

"We got a call from Clarksworth Place. An older man in his 80s told us a credit card had been stolen from his car," Broccolina said.

"I figured, while we’re here, why not see if the credit card was charged?" she said. Police discovered the stolen card had been used to buy XBox Live.

Broccolina said that she had to call Microsoft and needed a court order to get any information attached to the XBox Live account. After procuring the court order, police found that, as Broccolina put it, an area juvenile "actually put in his true information when he registered."

Police were able to obtain a search warrant, and when they executed it, found a bag full of GPS units, cell phones, iPods and other MP3 players, according to Broccolina.

"We've been able to clear eight cases so far by returning property to its owner—there are still more [cases]," Broccolina said.

The juvenile was charged with eight counts of tampering with an auto, eight counts of theft and at least one count of using a stolen credit card, police said. He has since been released to the custody of his parents.

Police are continuing to investigate the case as they believe several other juveniles and possibly an adult may have been involved, Broccolina said.

Broccolina explained there have been other incidents of items being stolen from cars in the Parkville area, as previously reported on Patch.
