Linover Man Charged in Copper Theft

James Fast of Sipple Avenue was arrested Aug. 31 while allegedly trying to steal copper wire.

A Linover man was charged with stealing copper wire after he allegedly entered the Veterans Administration's property at Fort Howard in Dundalk and attempted to remove the material from a vacant building.

James Patrick Fast, 30, of the 200 block of Sipple Avenue, was arrested in connection with the theft on Aug. 31 when $700 in copper wire was recovered, according to Baltimore County police.

Fast  was charged with two counts of fourth-degree burglary, malicious destruction of property, theft of less than $1,000, trespassing, possession of marijuana, fourth-degree possession of burglary tools.

Baltimore County courts records show that Fast has a previous criminal history, including a 2005 case in which he was charged with first-degree and fourth-degree burglary and assault, and a recent arrest for posession of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Fast was released from the Baltimore County Detention Center on $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to stand trial on Nov. 3 in District Court in Essex.
