Man Stabbed During Fight Outside Cheers Bar & Grill

After the bar recently had its liquor license amended due to violence, a man is stabbed during a fight that started inside Cheers and spilled outside.

A man was stabbed after a fight that began inside Cheers Bar & Grill early Sunday morning spilled out onto the parking lot.

The victim, a 21-year-old male, was taken to Bayview Hospital and treated for multiple stab wounds.

Detective Cathy Batton, a Baltimore County police spokeswoman, said that police first responded to a disturbance call at the bar at 1900 East Joppa Rd. around 1:34 a.m. on April 3.

They arrived to find that a fight involving several people, which began inside the bar, had spilled out into the parking lot after some patrons were asked to leave. It was then that they discovered a man had been stabbed during the brawl.

The reason for the fight is unclear at this point, and police have not yet released any information concerning suspects in the stabbing.

Cheers Bar & Grill, located in the Perring Plaza shopping center, . The liquor board required the bar to hire more security staff as a result of violent incidents or else face the possibility of having its license revoked. 

At the March 7 hearing, police officers testified to a number of violent incidents stemming from the bar—including one in February that left four people injured after a bar patron brandished a knife during a fight outside, and another in January where a person claiming to be a Cheers patron committed an armed robbery in the parking lot of a nearby Denny's restaurant.

The Sunday morning stabbing is still under investigation.
