Parkville and Overlea Celebrate National Night Out

Tuesday night, six area community groups will host activities for National Night Out, a nearly three-decade-long effort to help build police and community relations.

The Baltimore County Police Department along with elected officials, local leaders and civic groups will mark the 28th anniversary of National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 2.

Last year, more than 37 million people in more than 15,000 communities nationwide came together to strengthen the police-community partnership against crime, according to a press release from the Baltimore County Police Department.

Baltimore County police encourage residents and businesses to put a blue light bulb in their porches and outdoor lights and to turn them on from 6 to 11 p.m. on August 2 as one way to participate in National Night Out.
