Parkville/Carney Crime: Man Robbed While Buying Craigslist iPhone

The following information was supplied by the Baltimore County Police Department. In cases were a criminal charge is noted, the information provided does not indicate a conviction.

Putty Hill Avenue, 2300 block, 7:30 p.m., Nov. 26.  A man was robbed of $250 cash by another man whom he had met in order to buy a cell phone.  

After a Craigslist exchange, the two met to make the transaction. The victim parked his car at Baltimore County Fire Department Station 10 and was met by the seller who had parked a Black Chevrolet Silverado at the American Legion post nearby. The seller met with the victim at the fire station and handed him the cell phone.

When the victim called Verizon, he was advised that the phone was stoen. The robber grabbed the victim's arm, took cash from his hand and ran back to his car then drove away.

Flagstone Drive, 9400 block, between 9 a.m., Nov. 24 and 6 p.m., Nov. 25. A digital camera and a laptop, valued at a total of $925, were stolen from a home after burglars got inside by forcing open a window.

Chestnut Avenue, 7700 block, at 7:30 p.m., Nov. 24. Copper piping was stolen from a vacant home after burglars got inside by cutting a window screen.

Police have arrested 50-year-old Clyde Douglas Hicks and 51-year-old Richard Benjamin, both of Parkville, and charged them with second-degree burglary, destruction of property and petty theft.

Andrea Avenue, 2900 block, at 1:15 p.m., Nov. 22. A burglar attempted to break into a home but was thwarted by a deadbolt on the back door. The glass on the door was broken with a rock during the attempted burglary.

Queen Anne Drive, 7700 block. It was recently discovered that a number of items were stolen from the home of a man who died earlier this year. Among the items missing were a grandfather clock, various medications, two flatscreen televisions, a cell phone, a boat and a Honda trailer with MD tags 722040G, and an unregistered Suzuki motorcycle.
