Parkville Woman Charged with Insurance Fraud

The 35-year-old Parkville resident stands accused of fleecing her insurance company of more than $20,000.

A 35-year-old Parkville woman has been charged with insurance fraud, according to a statement from the Maryland Attorney General's Office.

The statement, released Thursday afternoon, says that Katina Hutchinson will be arraigned on three counts of insurance fraud in Baltimore City Circuit Court on April 27.

"The charges stem from allegations that the accused filed three fraudulent insurance claims on her supmental health policy with American Family Life Assurance Company (AFLAC) from July 15, 2011 through August 17, 2011," according to the statement from Attorney General Douglas Gansler's office.

According to the attorney general's office, AFLAC issued three separate checks, totaling $21,563, payable to Hutchinson.

"A fraudulent insurance claim having a value of $300 or more is a felony and is punishable by a maximum sentence of 15 years incarceration and a $10,000 fine," the statement said.
