Pedestrian Struck By Car Saturday Dies From Injuries

Two people were hit as they crossed Putty Hill Avenue Saturday afternoon and one victim, a woman, later died from her injuries.

Police say a woman who was hit by a car Saturday afternoon died from her injuries early Monday morning.

Sharon Marie Bialek, 67, of the 3400 block of Moravia Road succumbed to injuries at R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center that she sustained when she and her husband, Robert Bialek, 71, were struck by a vehicle crossing Putty Hill Avenue on May 18, according to a news release from police. 

Both of the pesestrians were crossing Putty Hill Avenue in a crosswalk when they were struck by a 2004 Toyota Tacoma, police wrote in the release. The driver of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man, remained at the scene of the crash.

The pedestrians were transported to shock trauma where Sharon Bialek died at 2:22 a.m., police wrote.

The crash remains under investigation and no citations have been issued, police wrote. All fatal crashes are reviewed by the States Attorney's office.
