Man Arrested After Two-Hour Standoff with Police

Police were attempting to serve a warrant when a man barricaded himself inside a home.

UPDATE (1 p.m.) — A barricade situation in Parkville has ended after the suspect surrendered himself to police at around 12:30 p.m.

According to Lt. Robert McCullough, police officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant for second-degree assault around 10:30 a.m. to a man in a home located in the 7600 block of Perring Terrace.

"Officers were in the home when the man ran and barricaded himself into a bedroom. He grabbed a handgun and fired at least one shot," McCullough said.

The officers then left the house and called for the hostage negotiation and tactical teams, according to police. After about two hours the man surrendered himself and was taken into custody.

McCullough said the unidentified man is currently being held in Towson and will be charged with the original warrant for second-degree assault and an additional charge of first-degree assault resulting from the barricade incident.

Police said the man pointed the handgun at police officers during the standoff.
