Police Disperse Large Crowd at VFW

A Friday night celebration turned sour when two people started fighting.

A large crowd blocked traffic on Harford Road on Friday night after a graduation party was forced to end early.

According to police, officers were dispatched to VFW Post 9083, located at 8123 Harford Road, around 10:30 p.m. June 24 for a disturbance.

Detective Cathy Batton of the Baltimore County Police Department said the officer who responded to the scene saw more than 100 people leaving the VFW Hall; after interviewing VFW security, the officer found out that the party was shut down early after two partygoers began to argue and fight.

As the crowd dispersed from the party hall, several more fights began or threatened to begin—including several individuals who began fighting right in front of a police officer, according to officials.

Police deployed pepper spray to control and disperse the crowd, and the displaced partygoers fled the scene.
