Police: Girl Assaulted Near Middle School Thursday Night

A physical assault was reported to have occurred Thursday night in a Parkville neighborhood.

Police continue to investigate an assault reported in a Parkville neighborhood Thursday night but have said Friday morning that the crime did not occur at Parkville Middle School.

Sometime between 7:35 and 8:20 p.m. Nov. 7, a 15-year-old girl reported to police that she was walking her dogs in the area near Parkville Middle School when she was physically assaulted by two men, according to police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton.

The girl told police she was able to get away from her attackers and that she ran to Parkville Middle School. The assault did not occur on school grounds, Batton said.

Police responded to the area to search for the men, but were unable to find them, Batton said.

The situation remains under investigation, Batton said.

If the incident did not occur at the school or on school grounds why would this story include a picture of the school sign. This is such a poor choice on behalf of the Parkville-Overlea Patch. Considering the recent problems occuring in some of the schools in Baltimore County, the usage of this photo with this story is inappropriate. Perhaps a picture of the intersection signs may have been a better choice. Please let's not add more problems than needed within the school system. Let's try and not get 3000 parents frantic. A physical assault was reported to have occurred Thursday night in a Parkville neighborhood as the caption to this story would have been better by itself as opposed to secondary. I think the news oversteps sometimes.

I find it most appropriate to bring the picture of the school in play here due to the proximity of the assult.
