Police: Possibly Armed Man No Threat To Villa Cresta

Police responded to the Parkville area elementary school Monday afternoon.

Police do not believe there was any threat to students at Villa Cresta Elementary School Monday afternoon following reports of an armed man near the school building.

"At this point we do not believe there was a threat to the school and the investigation is ongoing," said police spokeswoman Cpl. Cathleen Batton.

The man, who was possibly carrying a weapon, is a white male between 20 and 30 years old, Batton said.

Batton said that the man made no attempt to approach the school and that at the time he was seen was walking across an athletic field away from the school to get into a white work van parked near the intersection of Rader and Ardmore Avenues.

Police believe the van may belong to someone who lives in the area and are asking anyone with information about the vehicle to contact the Parkville precinct at 410-887-5310.
