Police Warn Against String of Parkville Car Break-Ins

Residents are advised to lock their vehicle doors.

Valuables have been stolen from at least 30 vehicles in the Parkville area over the past two weeks, police said.

The majority of thefts have occurred near Putty Hill Avenue, Fowler Road and Old Harford Road, said Officer Mark Dorsey of the Parkville police precinct.

The robbers, likely "a group of youths," target unlocked vehicles and steal GPS devices, cell phones and other electronics, Dorsey said. No vehicles have been reported stolen.

"We have increased patrols in these areas at night," said Captain Thomas Busch.

Busch said the best defense against a break-in is to lock a vehicle's doors. He encouraged residents to call 911 if they see people looking into vehicles with flashlights or pulling on multiple door handles.
