Police: Weed Deal Goes Awry, Dealer Calls Cops

Police said a drug deal went sideways when the buyers robbed the seller and stole his cell phone.

A large group of young adults and one juvenile from Baltimore County and City were arrested on charges that they stole marijuana from a Rosedale teen who police said was trying to sell them the drug.

On May 23, shortly before 1 a.m. the suspects, five males and a female, drove to the corner of Walnut and Severn Avenues in Rosedale to meet a juvenile who lived nearby, according to White Marsh Precinct Lt. Ron Brooks and a police report of the incident.

The group intended to buy marijuana from a 17-year-old Rosedale resident, but during the drug deal decided not to pay, police said. Instead, they stole the Rosedale teen's cell phone, an undisclosed amount of marijuana and $5, then fled the scene. They probably never expected that the teen would call the police to report stolen drugs but that's just what he did, according to Brooks.
