Three Arrested in Overlea Street Robbery

Two juveniles were charged as adults in connection a street robbery Friday, and a third man was arrested and charged, as well.

Three teens were arrested Friday afternoon in connection with the robbery of a man and a woman near the MTA bus loop on Belair Road in Overlea.

The man and woman were approached from behind by three males as they walked in the 6800 block of Belair Road, according to a Baltimore County police report.

The male victim was punched and pushed during the struggle and was eventually stabbed in the arm, police said. The female was also struck, the report states.

According to police, the robbers stole a hat from the male victim's head and fled.

During a search of the area, the police aviation, plain-clothes and uniformed officers located the suspects, police said.

Seventeen-year-old Wayne Brown Jr., of the unit block of W. Elm Avenue, was arrested at a home in the unit block of W. Elm Avenue in connection with the crime. Sixteen-year-old Ronnell Simmons and 19-year-old Ricky Simmons, of the unit block of Manor Avenue, were arrested about a minute later, according to police.

All three young men were charged as adults with robbery, theft and assault and are being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center on $150,000 bond each.

Baltimore County police spokeswoman Det. Cathleen Batton said that St. Michael the Archangel school was placed on lockdown while police searched for the suspects.
