White Marsh Police Promoting Community Outreach

Sgt. Angela Mickle has been appointed to lead a community relations team.

An effort to promote the 's interaction with communities is already underway.

recently appointed Sgt. Angela Mickle to lead a community relations team to address concerns in each of the communities in its jurisdiction.

The precinct stretches from Harford County to the Baltimore City line, between U.S. Route 40 and U.S. Route 1, including much of Rosedale, Overlea, Rossville, White Marsh, Perry Hall, Kingsville and Upper Falls.

"Our main goals are to have a better relationship with the communities, to be more accessible when complaints come in, to get people to feel more comfortable about calling," Mickle said. "Anything that may come up, we're here to assist."

Her team of school resource officers, traffic officers, domestic violence officers and community outreach officers will focus on quality of life issues, as well as crime investigation, Balog said.

The team will also "help citizens navigate through county government to get things done—and quickly," he said.

This week Balog also began releasing a weekly crime report of major incidents to government and community officials and media.

"The goal is just to share the information. It's not all of the crime, just those things of major significance," he said. "Towson is already doing this and it's worked well for them. It came up as suggestion during the ."

The reports will be released weekly to Patch. The Overlea Community Association and the  will also have access to the crime reports, Balog said.
