Aug. 13-14: White Marsh Express Toll Lanes Closure

Traffic detours are expected next week on Interstate 695 at Interstate 95.

Bridgework as part of the is expected to cause another detour on Monday.

From 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., Aug. 13 into Aug. 14, "all lanes of westbound Interstate 695 (OUTER LOOP) at Interstate 95 (Exit 33) will be completely closed," according to a Maryland Transportation Authority press release.

"Traffic will be detoured off Exit 33 to northbound I-95, to westbound MD 43 (Exit 67B, White Marsh Boulevard), to southbound I-95, to westbound I-695 (Exit 64)," the release showed.

When complete, the project will allow drivers to use express lanes on I-95 by paying a toll or travel on existing lanes at no additional cost.

The White Marsh portion of the project carries a $142.6 million price tag and is expected to create 400 new jobs. The total project, which stretches from north of White Marsh along I-95 to south of the Interstate 895/Moravia Road interchange, will cost $1.03 billion and is expected to be finished by 2014, according to the transportation authority.

Real-time traffic camera images of state roadways are available at mdta.maryland.gov. Travel information is also available by calling 511 or visiting md511.org.

Between this mess and whatever they are doing at Harbor Tunnel, the commute is horrible. Didn't we just spend a tin of our money ( raised taxes) to be this inconvenienced?

As I am someone in the construction industry, all construction jobs are temporary and conditioned on the General Contractor finding more work for their employees and subcontractors.
