He’s been running for months but Anthony Brown will file the paperwork to make his campaign for governor official.

Brown and his running mate, Howard County Executive Ken Ulman, are expected to file the paperwork Friday afternoon. Ulman is scheduled to join Brown at the Maryland State Board of Elections.

The two are not alone in the contest for the Democratic nomination to succeed Gov. Martin O’Malley.

Maryland Attorney General Doug Gansler, long considered a candidate for governor, will officially announce his candidacy on Sept. 24, during three events in Rockville, Ellicott City and Baltimore's Reservoir Hill.
