How Does Your Recycling Stack Up?

Inspired by a billboard posted in Parkville's Lavender Avenue parking lot, we take a look at recycling rates for the neighborhoods of Parkville-Overlea.

The billboard in the photo above asked the question, so Patch decided to answer: "Parkville, how does your recycling stack up?"

Since we've got readers from all over 21234 though, we'll take a look at recycling for the neighborhoods of Parkville, Overlea, Carney, and Hillendale/Loch Raven.

When Baltimore County started single-stream recycling, the program came with an ambitious goal—to increase the residential recycling rate to an average of 50 percent countywide. A county website tracks recycling rates, and shows that all of the neighborhoods in 21234 were above the 2011 average of 14.8 percent.
