Obama's Visit Not Expected to Affect Morning Commute

President Barack Obama will visit Parkville Middle School on Avondale Road on Monday morning.

UPDATE (6:38 p.m.) — Residents in the neighborhood surrounding Parkville Middle School may have to find somewhere else to park their cars tomorrow, as the streets surrounding the school will be closed to parking for the duration of President Obama's visit to the school.

As of Sunday evening, Baltimore County police had set up blocks along both sides of Avondale Road between Putty Hill Avenue and Hiss Avenue, as well as along Hiss Avenue between Avondale Road and Glen Road.

No vehicles will be allowed to park on those streets between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. on Feb. 14.

President Obama's Monday morning to visit to the school is not expected to impact morning rush hour traffic, according to county police.

Police are advising travellers to avoid White Marsh Boulevard after rush hour. Delays along Route 43, which runs from Eastern Boulevard to I-695, are likely as the president travels to the school, according to Lt. Rob McCullough, a police spokesman.

Belair Road should be used as an alternate route, McCullough said.

"We're coordinating with the Maryland State Police and the U.S. Secret Service to ensure that the delays are kept to a minimum," McCullough said.
