Parkville Library to Close for $276K Renovation Project
Library-goers will be encouraged to visit Perry Hall, White Marsh, Loch Raven and Towson branches of the Baltimore County Public Library.
The Parkville branch of Baltimore County Public Library will close this spring for renovations, Baltimore County Council members Cathy Bevins and David Marks announced this week.
During April and May, the branch on Harford Road will be closed for what Bevins said would be a "major renovation," according to a statement from the council members.
The Parkville library opened in 1971 and was the first building in the county library system to have a ramp entrance for people in wheelchairs, according to the statement. It has twice undergone renovations, according to the Baltimore County Public Library.
The $276,000 renovation project this spring calls for new carpeting and wall paint as well as shelving improvements.
"This is a major renovation to a beloved library and important community center in Carney and Parkville," Bevins said.
Citizens will be encouraged to visit the Perry Hall, White Marsh, Loch Raven and Towson branches during the interim.
"While residents will need to travel a little farther over the next two months," Marks said, "we think the result will be well worth it."
